folksy: (the moon at play)
Summer Stars by Carl Sandburg

BEND low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
So near, a long arm man can pick off stars,
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.

summer constellations

I'm always in awe of the stars in the heavens.
No matter how many times I look up above me
a huge swelling occurs inside.
It's the seeing of such celestial beauty
and how far and how many there are.
It's the knowing of something far greater and beyond
all things that transpire here on earth.
It's the feeling of smallness in comparison
but not in a negative way.
I can never and will never get over the stars
and what they do to me.
